African Relief and Development
African Relief and Development (ARD) is a humanitarian and development organization with the overarching mission of making a constructive contribution to the enhancement of living conditions and standards for persons in Somalia who have been negatively affected by natural catastrophes and armed conflict.
The purpose of the organization is to collaborate with communities in Somalia to achieve the provision of basic multi-sectoral integrated humanitarian and development support. This assistance is intended to help protect vulnerable people and ensure that their basic needs are met and serve as a model organization whose successes are replicated by other organizations in the region and replicated throughout the horn of Africa.
The Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) programmes that ARD runs are geared toward expanding access to water, sanitation, and hygiene services.
The training of community healthcare workers, the provision of medical equipment and essential drugs, and immunization are some of the key areas of focus.
The primary objective of ARD's livelihood programming in Somalia is to contribute to improved resilience and increased adaptive capacities of communities.
