Health & Nutrition

The health concerns of Somalia's impoverished and marginalized communities are addressed by the programmes offered by ARD.

The training of community healthcare workers, the provision of medical equipment and essential drugs, and immunization are some of the key areas of focus. Other key areas of focus include the reduction of maternal and infant mortality, the reduction of malnutrition, the construction of new and rehabilitation of existing health infrastructure, and the reduction of maternal and infant mortality.

In addition to this, ARD is involved in the monitoring and response to the spread of disease. ARD's health strategy has been built around an innovative and holistic approach from the beginning.

The establishment of interlinkages between the various stakeholders has been the most important component. Both access and the quality of health care in the communities that ARD serves have improved as a direct result of ARD's training and sensitization efforts directed toward community health workers.

ARD services for the underprivileged and those on the margins of society, with a particular focus on newborns, children, adolescent girls, and mothers. Long-term behavior changes, such as the instillation of beneficial health practices, are becoming increasingly evident within communities.
