African Relief and Development
Delivering integrated humanitarian and development programmes that save lives today and build resilient communities for tomorrow.
We work across six core sectors, designed in close collaboration with the communities we serve to ensure every intervention is relevant, effective, and sustainable.
ARD implements integrated programmes that respond to urgent humanitarian needs while also addressing the underlying root causes of vulnerability within the communities we serve. From immediate emergency assistance to long-term, sustainable development, our work spans health, water and sanitation, food security, education, and protection — always guided by genuine community participation, transparency, accountability, and respect for human dignity.
Every programme we deliver is community-driven, context-specific, and fully accountable, ensuring that our support creates meaningful, measurable, and lasting change for the vulnerable people we serve across both Somalia and Kenya.
Placing communities at the heart of design.
Programmes shaped by local participation.
Transparent to communities, donors, and partners.
Building lasting change, not temporary relief.
Safeguarding dignity in every intervention.
Partnering with government, UN, and NGOs.
Lasting change requires more than emergency response — it requires addressing the deeper, structural drivers of vulnerability that keep communities trapped in cycles of crisis. That’s why our work spans six interconnected sectors, each carefully designed to meet people’s most urgent needs today while simultaneously laying the foundation for a more resilient, self-reliant tomorrow. Rather than treating humanitarian aid and long-term development as separate tracks, we weave them together so that relief efforts naturally build toward recovery, and recovery efforts naturally build toward lasting growth.
Every programme we run, whether in the villages of Bakool or the outskirts of Nairobi, is shaped first and foremost by the voices and priorities of the people it serves. We design with communities, not simply for them, ensuring that each intervention reflects local realities and genuine local ownership. Delivered with unwavering accountability to those we serve, our partners, and our donors, and built with sustainability in mind from the outset, every programme is intended not just to help today, but to leave communities stronger, more capable, and better equipped for whatever comes next.
We provide life-saving assistance including food, emergency shelter, non-food items, and protection support to people affected by conflict, displacement, and natural disasters.
We improve access to essential health services and good nutrition for individuals and communities, with a focus on mothers, children, and vulnerable groups.
We ensure sustainable access to safe water and promote hygiene and sanitation practices to prevent disease and improve health outcomes.
We support communities to improve food security and build sustainable livelihoods through agriculture, income generation, and market-based approaches.
We promote inclusive and quality education opportunities for children and youth to improve learning outcomes and build a brighter future.
We work to protect vulnerable individuals and promote social inclusion, gender equality, and the rights and dignity of all people.
