African Relief and Development

GEOGRAPHIC FOOTPRINT

Delivering humanitarian and development programmes where the need is greatest across Somalia and Kenya.

Our presence is guided by need, accessibility, relevance, and the potential for lasting impact.

Where We Work

ARD implements humanitarian and development programmes in regions facing the most critical needs — areas shaped by conflict, displacement, poverty, and limited access to essential services. From our roots in Wajid, Bakool Region, we have expanded our reach across Somalia and into Kenya, always guided by where our presence can make the greatest difference.

Our footprint is not fixed. As needs shift, whether due to drought, displacement, or emerging crisis, we adapt our presence to remain close to the communities who need us most. This flexibility allows us to respond quickly while maintaining the deep local relationships that make our work effective.

Being present is not the same as being effective. In every region we operate, we invest in understanding local context, building trusted relationships, and coordinating closely with government, UN agencies, and other partners — ensuring our footprint translates into real, measurable impact for the people we serve.

Where We Operate

SOMALIA

Somalia remains the heart of ARD’s operations, with our head office based in Wajid District, Bakool Region, and sub-offices extending our reach into Baidoa and Garowe. We operate across several regions, focusing on communities affected by crisis, displacement, and limited access to services — areas where humanitarian and development needs are often most acute.

KENYA

In Kenya, we implement targeted programmes from our liaison office in Nairobi, supporting vulnerable populations and strengthening community resilience in select areas. Our presence here allows us to extend support across borders, reaching communities affected by displacement and drought that stretch beyond Somalia alone.

FOCUS AREAS

Across both countries, our footprint concentrates on conflict-affected areas, displacement and refugee-impacted communities, hard-to-reach and underserved populations, and regions marked by high vulnerability and poverty. These focus areas guide every decision about where ARD establishes a presence and where we choose to grow.
